The Bujinkan Mikazuki Dojo is committed to teaching Budo Taijutsu as it has been passed down from Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, 34th generation Grandmaster of 9 different ryuha, or styles, taught together as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. Budo Taijutsu is translated as "warrior way of body movement" and is focused on balance, distance, timing and flow. Developing these qualities so that this art is dynamic and can be applied to everyday life, and not just as sport or a "living history" study.
We do not teach one to fight, to be a brawler or thug. We teach to
protect and act as a shield to stand between evil and innocence. We teach that there is more to the martial arts than just punching and kicking.
Although you will train in these techniques, along with wrist locks,
rolling and other subjects, you will learn that with the ability to apply these techniques comes responsibility. The responsibility to be a true man or woman, a true human being.
The Mikazuki Dojo is operated under the same guidelines as Hatsumi Sensei's Hombu Dojo in Japan. Students will train together regardless of rank, age or sex. Male students wear black gi's with the appropriate color belt. Females may wear the black gi or purple gi with the appropriate color belt. Students will be required to purchase and bring their own training equipment (i.e. bo staffs, bokkens, etc.).
